She is uplifting (New Years Resolution)
Happy New Years!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful new years! Mine was great. I went to dinner in downtown Brooklyn at the cutest New Orleans style restaurant and cafe called “Stans Place” with one of my best friends, then to another friends gathering at her apt. While at dinner my friend asked me what had I learned in 2008 and what did I look forward to for 2009. I was actually glad she asked because I had been so busy I really hadn’t thought about it.
I told her I learned a few things in 2008…
1. To be conscious and remember in the moment that every person is who they are because of their unique experiences. By thinking this way I remember that happiness or devastating news to one person might mean the total opposite to someone else. So something that I might deem absolutely ridiculous someone else might just think it’s a little silly and I can’t be mad about that.
2. Unconditional love is soooo important. I learned that I have to unconditionally love myself. By unconditional I mean that I am not perfect so even when I make mistakes instead of beating myself up I’ve chosen a different outlook. I will analyze why I did what I did, what I learned from it, and how I can remember to be more aware the next time I am put in the same situation.
3. It’s a smart thing to ask for help. I have learned that I cannot do everything and that by putting my guard down and asking people for help then progress can move a lot faster.
4. Eating healthy is a lifestyle and not just making sure you eat veggies everyday LOL. I have learned that just because I have cut out dairy, don’t eat pork and manage to get my veggies in frequently does not mean that I eat healthy enough so I am looking forward to making healthier decisions.
Things I look forward to in 2009…
1. SUCCESS. More success with my business ventures. I feel it inside that things are going to excel to the next level for me in 09′ and I am too excited about it.
2. FRIENDSHIPS. I have some of the most amazing friends on the planet. This year I am looking forward to meeting more people who are on the same page as me. The best way to succeed is to be around people who are also striving for success and interested in personal growth.
3. TRAVELING. Sometimes I can tend to be a little frugal LOL. Not because I don’t have the money or don’t want to splurge but because I know that as an entrepreneur I have to do what I have to do now so that I can do what I want to do later. But this year I am definitely going to travel more. I really want to see the world and meet people from different cultures.
4. MY HAIR. There are different stages that people go through when they decide to go natural. I am now at the point where I just don’t care anymore what people think. I love, love, love my hair and this year I plan on wearing it however I feel like wearing it all the time. I never wore it combed out because I was afraid it was just too big and people weren’t ready for that but this year is all about me being free with my hair.
5. GROWTH. I have decided to create an area in my room that is dedicated to meditation. It will be a corner with a really cute yet comfy pillow (I love the ones from Urban Outfitters) and I will leave a few candles there. I will also leave an 8 by 10 frame and inside the frame I will have a collage of my favorite quotes and my favorite people.
I would love to hear your resolutions!!

Happy New Years Ally–I was blessed to spend this special day with my bestfriend (you–lol) and I was happy to share my goals for 2009 as well:) As you know–I stopped making resolutions…and I like to act in the “now.” The biggest thing I learned in 2008 is to FORGIVE. Forgive for yourself and don’t let the other person have that much control over your emotions…even if they don’t know that they did anything. Then forgive yourself!! 2009 is going to be year of happiness…and everything else will fall into place the way God ordained it to be:)

I love the New Year! It’s the season of fresh starts and renewal.
Here are a few of my resolutions:
- Give more assistance and support to sistahs everywhere. This, I have discovered, not only helps and inspire other women, but it truly makes me feel good.
- Take the creation of my own planner, “The Go Girl’s Planner,” to the next level.
- Live more in the moment and enjoy life as it is today while still making sure our future is solid.
- Plan my trip to London!
- Work smarter

p.s. I love the fact that you’re going to be more “free” with your hair…just don’t sit in front of me at a concert…smooches:)
