She is beauty (Dark Circles)

Your wrist is hurting again! You have been pat pat patting for a good 15 minutes straight just trying to cover up your dark circles…

Annoying right? I can’t stand when I wake up and notice dark circles especially because I am not an expert makeup artist and all attempts to cover them up sadly fail. Dark circles are not just from a lack of sleep or from too many drinks from dinner last night ;) Dark circles under the eyes can be due to a number of different factors. I have listed some home remedies that may help to temporarily diminish the appearance of dark circles and possibly prevent them from worsening but you may want to run them by your doctor or local holistic healer first because everyone’s skin reacts differently.

PS. I LAUNCH the first She-blogs fashion feature tomorrow (yeah!!) and If you get a chance check me out on this blog talk radio show that I did last Wednesday ;)

SOME CAUSES OF DARK CIRCLES…

LACK OF SLEEP
Fatigue can make the skin appear dull and more pale. This allows the blood vessels to be more visible through the skin, which can give the appearance of dark circles.

GENETICS
Sometimes dark circles can be an inherited condition. They can also tend to be more noticeable in people with fair skin or deep-set eyes.

FLUID RETENTION
Blood vessels that retain excess fluid can create puffiness, which can contribute to dark circles. Excess dietary salt and smoking, and some thyroid, kidney, and liver diseases can cause fluid retention.

THINNING SKIN
The skin under the eyes is thin and delicate and as we experience the beautiful God given process of aging the skin and the fat pad under the eyes becomes thinner. This can cause blood vessels to become more noticeable giving the appearance of dark circles.

ALLERGIES
Dark circles under the eyes can be the result of allergies. Dark circles may appear faster with airborne substances like pollen, dust, and pet dander, because people rub their itchy eyes. Food allergies or sensitivities can also contribute to dark circles.

DEHYDRATION
The body needs the proper hydration to make sure that all cells are working together properly and that the blood is flowing in a healthy smooth way.

REMEDIES FOR DARK CIRCLES

• DRINK DRINK DRINK lots of water.
• Make cotton pads and dip them in cucumber juice. Place on your eyes for 15 minutes. The cooling not only relaxes your eyes but can also help the rest of you relax.
• Get plenty of rest.
• Dip cotton balls in rose water and keep for 5-10 minutes.
• Be careful not to consume too much dietary salt.
• Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls that can become weak and thin under the eye. Make sure that you have enough vitamin C in your diet.
• Try placing alternate hot and cold compresses under your eyes for 10 minutes.
• In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a bluish cast under the eyes are due to an imbalance in kidney energy. You may want to research some traditional Chinese medicine remedies for dark circles and try

Ally, nice to finally hear your voice. Great show and I swear I recently said to myself that she needs to write a book. Looking forward to that!

I know I could use more water. I don’t know why drinking more water is such an issue for me. Now, where would you get rose water???

Hey Ally! Great information. I have been meaning to say a Chinese herbalist. They can supposedly make a blend of herbs for tea specifically for that individual. Will definitely check.out some of these recipes. Arlice Nicole-You can get rose water from Whole Foods or any Health Food store. It can be used for so many things. I use it during the summer as instant hydration for my face (get a misting spray bottle). I also use it in my hair mixed with glycerin and aloe vera juice, follow that with some coconut oil. Your hair will love you. Hope this helps
