She is Inspiring

Happy Monday Fam,

I hope you had a lovely weekend! I am on a big polish kick. I got my nails done at Wink Eco Beauty Bar in Brooklyn on Saturday at the Vain Mag beauty bar event so right now my nails are a teal blue green color and I LOVE the way they turned out. My mother was mortified when I told her what color I had on my nails and said “who in their right mind would wear blue nails?” lololol so I had to explain to her that it was stylish and chic. I am excited about todays post because I am a fan of her nail polish. I am always happy to do these interviews because I love finding out about each woman’s unique story she took to follow her dreams. This Haitian beauty is extremely driven and a creative genius.

Myrdith I wish you all the best & My prayers are with you and your family…
xoxo
Ally

She-blogs: Who is Myrdith Leon-McCormack?
Myrdith:
A simple Haitian girl doing her job.

She-blogs: What inspired you to start your chic nail company M2M damoreJon?
Myrdith: I wanted to leave a legacy behind. I wanted to leave my mark in the fashion industry. It’s my Hollywood star to the industry. I have been pushing other brands and as I still enjoy doing so I wanted to leave my on personal mark.

She-blogs: What makes your polish stand out from the rest? PS I love some of the names…”Midnight Rendezvous”, “Glam Slam”, “Electra”
Myrdith:
m2m is more then a polish, it’s a life style and its personal! It connects with all different kinds of people. There is an inspiration behind every color! It’s a social statement. We connect with the people here and abroad. One of our colors Kompa is our jewel! Since we launched the collection we have been giving proceeds to the woman and children of Haiti through carmafoundation.org.

She-blogs: As a manicurist, how did you get to work with W magazine, Elle, Italian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar etc?
Myrdith:
I was represented by one of the most amazing agents Deirdre Sullivan at Jump management. She built my book and pushed me to my full potential. I worked with makeup artist Frances Hathaway who believed in me and took me to all the shows during fashion week!

She-blogs: I heard that you have partnered with Angela and Vanessa Simmons to create a signature nail line for their “Pastry” collection. How did that come to fruition?
Myrdith:
I met with the marketing department and sat down with them and we decided for m2m to do private labeling for pastry sneaker promotion. They decided to use two colors blue berry and sugar berry.

She-blogs: What advice would you give to a woman who wants to start her own nail polish company?
Myrdith:
To do your research, know your industry and to just do it, everything is possible!

She-blogs: What is your average day like?
Myrdith:
I’m on the computer first thing before the sun comes up. Usually I will have a shoot for 8:30am call time. Meetings beginning around 12:30, conferences throughout the day, skype twice a day. Back on the computer it just never ends! I don’t sleep. I take power naps!

She-blogs: Tell me about one of the biggest career obstacles you have faced and how you worked through it?
Myrdith:
Being the face of a brand was an obstacle, I worked through it by creating my own!

She-blogs: Why do you think it is important for women to stick together and genuinely help one another?
Myrdith:
We should help one another so we can grow! One could always grow alone however if you have a strong team and share things so much more can get done so many more people can learn, so many more people can be helped!

She-blogs: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Myrdith:
Retired, having my company sustain itself, continuing to help Haiti and to rebuild my hometown.

Myrdith:
LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. ENJOY EVERY WAKING MOMENT BECAUSE NOTHING IS GUARANTEED. Give unconditionally.

She-blogs: When was the last time you laughed so hard you couldn’t breathe?
Myrdith:
With my mother the other day when we were talking about my dad and how hard he was on us and we didn’t understand why he talked so much. How much he wanted us to be successful. We made fun of how harsh he was, but as she cried about the pain of the tragedy of Haiti, she just laughed about how stubborn I was and how I fought her every step of the way. We laughed so hard as we made fun of my dad. It was great. My mom Adrienne Leon is really my hero!

She-blogs: What do you do to stay balanced?
Myrdith:
Take showers!! My most Incredible thoughts and creations come to me in the shower. My kids give me a reality check. No matter how much you think you’re in control, those little people remind you how much control you really have. They challenge you every step of the way. They remind you, you are not the boss.

She-blogs: What do you like the most about the way you look?
Myrdith:
I like me! All of me…I love the color of my skin, my smile my big Afro- hair I love it all! I love more then anything in the world being HAITIAN. FOR THE FIRST TIME I AM PROUD OF MY ANCESTORS.

She-blogs: What do you like to do for fun?
Myrdith:
I love to read! Travel and meet knew people.

She-blogs: Is there anything else you want the she-blogs readers to know?
Myrdith:
RESPECT FOR LIFE, HELP OTHERS, GIVE FREELY, FIND LOVE, BE PASSIONATE ABOUT SOMETHING WORTHWHILE, BIGGER THEN YOURSELF. MATERIAL THINGS DO NOT MAKE A WOMAN OR A MAN. SHARE THE WEALTH.
