She is Happy! (Milwaukee Fam Trip)

Happy Monday!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I wanted to share some pics from my trip to Milwaukee Wisconsin. I went for my great Aunts 80th birthday. My parents met me there and I got to see a host of other relatives, some of which I hadn’t seen in about 8 or 9 years.

I wanted to make sure my trip was relaxing so I left all work behind. I didn’t bring my laptop and didn’t use my cell phone while I was there. It was so refreshing to be around family and nature that beautiful. Her house sat on Lake Michigan and the view was breathtaking…pics are below.

The main reason I wanted to diverge from my regular Monday post is to tell a story about a girl that I met. I believe in divine interaction. All day all the time invisible energy frequencies are being exchanged, crossing, growing, and spreading that connect us all.

The other day after leaving my part time job I was a little stressed…just kept going over and over in my mind the different ways I could approach my job search.

As I’m leaving the subway a young girl (18) approaches me and asks how to get to another train. I told her that the only way would be to take a bus. She didn’t have the money to take the bus so I offered to swipe her on with my card. As we were standing there waiting for the bus I asked her some questions and she told me that she was living with a relative, broke, and looking for jobs with literally two outfits to her name.
She didn’t ask me for help but I asked her for her number and told her I knew lots of amazing women that could help her…
We could at least start her off with clothes I thought to myself.
I also told her I would research some organizations that were dedicated to helping her get on her feet.

I have already sent an email to some of my D.C. girls but if you live in the NY area and have clothes that you don’t wear anymore that you want to donate that would be great. She looked like she was a size 10 in pants, medium or large in tops, and 9 or 10 in shoes…
I am going to give her a call next week.
Our meeting was a reminder for me to be thankful for all that I already have and to realize that even in my position I can still help people in small ways.

Enjoy the rest of your day
xoxo,
Ally

That was a beautiful post! It is so easy sometimes to get caught up in our own “stuff,” but I have found 9 times out of 10, there is someone who is dealing with circumstances worse than our own (something I needed to be reminded of today). I am so glad you were able to be a blessing to the young lady, and your pics are simply beautiful!

Ally, you are one amazing woman! That is girlpower at it’s best! I can still say girl power right? LOL.

Maybe Dress for Success could also help.

I love the Great Lakes. I grew up around Lake Erie.

Love this post!! I am originally from Milwaukee and I miss the lakefront dearly!!!! Glad you had a great time there. The story of the young lady is just awesome! We must continue to help others, especially when we can’t even help ourselves. Please keep us posted on how things go with her.
