Glamour comes in a Plus size

Women all across America felt a collective sense of pride when turning the pages of the September issue of Glamour magazine. Known for its fashion and celebrity featured covers, Glamour decided to try on a new size with the current issue. Inside the magazine they featured 20-year old plus size model Lizzie Miller. The infamous photograph features Miller sitting rather relaxed donning only a pair of red string bikini underwear and an expansive smile. The photo created an immediate buzz and Glamour readers across the country began sending hundreds of letters and e-mails exhibiting their enthusiasm. All of this excitement has not gone unnoticed by the publication itself and Glamour Editor-In-Chief Cindi Leive is promising readers there will be more coverage of women of all shapes and sizes in upcoming issues of the publication. This is a wonderful example of the way in which we are the change we seek. Statistics show that the average American woman is a size 12-14 and weighs approximately 160 pounds. The fashion world since its conception has treated the everyday woman as an anomaly and an apparel fitting freak. With more women having their voices heard perhaps Glamour and fashion will fit comfortably into a plus size.

Feel Her Fire

Aside from and even before the brawl with Chris Brown, there’s a reason Rihanna’s always photographed, blogged about, and featured on the tracks and in the videos of the rap games biggest players. Her style, in a word - fiery! She makes me want to break my string of pricey pearls and set ablaze my most coveted vintage pieces, and start all over again. When you put all the pieces to her puzzle together, Rihanna’s truly a work of art. She’s the only one who’s been able to rock that shaved, peacock hairstyle the right way, and on any given day you’ll see her looking fabulously feminine, the next it’s biker chic. Versatility is her middle name; she’s got me wanting to shake up my most romantic looks to be fiercer after seeing her in Kanye’s video “Paranoid” as… a wolf girl? But the latest that’s got me bowing down to the Barbadian beauty: long oval shaped, vampire-ish nails with very pointy tips, looking as though they were painted with someone’s blood. Talk about bringing the heat!
