She is uplifting (A Business Support Group)
Happy Friday Fam,
Yesterday my roomy said, “lets go to the business library downtown”
Considering I hadn’t been to the public library in forever I agreed. It was great! We perused through the small business section and carried a gazillion books to our table. I ended up only leaving with one though because I knew if I took too many I would feel overwhelmed and be turned off.
Ugghhhh I was so torn about what to do this post about because I have so many ideas I want to share with you.
But it hit me today “SUPPORT GROUP”!
Do you have a support group?
If you are an aspiring doctor, do you hang around a few other aspiring doctors?
Now don’t get me wrong, established business people are always good for support, mentoring, advice etc but sometimes it is just really great to have a few people that are going through the same exact thing as you. They will really understand what you are going through and can also help you to see some of the struggles from a different perspective.
If you are an aspiring fashion designer do you meet with other aspiring fashion designers and share thoughts, ideas, resources, contact info?
The time is right now! Find some like-minded folks (if you haven’t already) that are also on the same or similar journey and create a support group. The reason I say this is because following your dreams especially if you are doing it on the side of your 9 to 5 is hard!!!!
I know I do a lot of interviews and have even spoken about my own personal entrepreneurial journey and let me just tell you that although I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, that doesn’t mean that it is not a daily struggle. I guess what gets me through it is not looking at the “tough” times as a struggle but looking at them as opportunities for growth or blessings.
You know what though? I just gotta tell it like it is. I think that sometimes people don’t team up with people that are doing the same exact thing that they are because they may feel the person is their competition.
People I ask you today to let that go. Do you know that there are millions of stars in the universe? That means that if the universe is abundant that abundance really is everywhere then even if you can’t see it. There is enough room for you to be a singer and for your best friend to be a singer and for your little cousin Jo Jo to be a singer too. LOL
But if you do happen to live in the land of insecurity (which happens sometimes) then try to figure out why and attempt to heal yourself from that because all it will do is hinder you.
Tips on starting a support group (mine will be for Jewelry designers)
1. Figure out how many people you want in your support group. I think I want four
2. Write down the general mission/point of having this group
3. Find the people either through folks you know or maybe even meetup.com
4. Reach out to them to see if they are interested and then figure out a realistic meeting schedule. You might even have to do meetings via video gmail chat at times lol
5. That’s it! Then you just let the good networking/business building times role!
And by the way if you are a jewelry designer and are interested in being in my support group just email me ally@allymarie.com
If you already have a group then please share how it has worked out or if you start one soon please feel free to comment on any post and share your thoughts.
Have an amazing weekend,
Xoxo
Ally Marie
PS.
A few of you have sent me emails recently and let me just say that knowing that you are benefiting from this blog really does inspire me to go on. ?

A support group is great idea! I have a lot mentors (TOO many now that I think of it) and yet i still struggle with different decisions about entrepenuership. So I’m going to try this out with some other like minds and see where it takes me. Hopefully, “to infininty and BEYOND!!!” in the near future.
