Posh Pashminas
By Candace Wheeler

As the year 2009 is rapidly coming to a close, fashionistas everywhere will be making New Year’s resolutions to be even more fabulous in 2010 than ever before. An excellent way to get a head start on your resolution for fabulosity is to purchase a pashmina. Not to be confused with a simple scarf, a pashmina is elegant, decorative and if worn correctly sophisticated. It’s an easy accessory that can be utilized as a cold protecting “scarf” or a beautiful shawl for an evening out. There are a plethora of colors to choose from in a variety of fabrics, though cashmere is always recommended. With so many retailers catching up with the pashmina craze you can find them at just about any store ranging in price from $10- $100. These accessories also make great holiday gifts for friends and loved ones, and with so many prints and styles you can find a posh pashmina that is suited for just about anyone. In addition to being the perfect stocking stuffer, the pashmina should be seen as a worthy investment into the accessories collection for every woman. This accessory can be worn year round and with so many options. It really is the perfect pick me up for any ensemble. Whether the desired look is casual or total glam this find will be a great fashion accomplice for the new year.

A RECESSIONISTA’S DREAM

GETTING GREAT DESIGNER CLOTHING YOU <3 ON A BUDGET

By Monique Johnson

In my April 2009 article, Fresh Squeezed Flava, my fashion design and beauty expert, Daisy Llewellyn used a term I had never heard of before prior to our meeting. She used the word “Recessionista” and defined it as a fashionista on an economical budget due to the recession. As women walk down 5th Avenue, they can find comfort knowing that they can still have quality designer looks within their budget via stores like Payless, Target, Kmart, H&M and Kohl’s. I say thank you to the following designers on behalf of the recessionistas around the world: Christian Siriano, Lela Rose, Zac Posen, Alexander McQueen, Vera Wang, Anna Sui, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Jimmy Choo. I love the fact that designers have not forgotten that all women no matter their economic status or situation are the driving force behind them, after each label is sewn on. No matter if your address is 5th Avenue or 5th Street, remember you are a fashionista in spite of this temporary recession. You still look fabulous!! Check out these amazing bags by Jimmy Choo for H&M…

I wish I could get away with over the knee boots! They are so hot but don’t suit my petite frame :( Love your blog!

Ally, I totally agree, thigh-high boots–flat and high-heeled–are a must have this season!!!!

Girl I bet you could still rock those boots…How tall are you? You probably need to get some and wear them with leggings and a simple top so that the outfit isn’t overbearing for your frame…Get em you only live once xo

    @ Breena
I know I know. I want someone to buy them for me

    @ Suzie
Love animal prints… I would actually love to have a really high suede leopard pump with a red heel

    Xoxo

Love the 60’s red mini and the necklace :) I am an avid supporter of the pashmina - it really is a great addition to any outfit. I have so many in different colors and they are like my uniform during the colder months.
