She is uplifting ( Visualization)

Visualize Your Way to Happiness

I have come a long way on my journey towards spiritual enlightenment. I have read many books, attended lectures, held conversations about life with some amazing people, and picked up great practices along the way. All of my experiences, the great and not so great, have shaped who I am and I would not change any of them. I have learned how to trust every moment. I may not like every moment (lol) but I trust that if I can find the lesson for growth that it was well worth the experience.

I am a strong believer in visualization. Not just because people talk about how great it is but because your eyes really are the keys to your soul. One of the best ways for your brain to learn something new is through repetition so if you see the things you want on a board every day you will subconsciously start to make it your reality.
Have you ever heard of a visualization board? It is basically a poster or bulletin board or sometimes a journal where you create a collage of images or things. The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, or where you want to live etc then your life changes to match your desires.
Having these boards up everyday can add clarity to your desires. My first one that I created are words that I like to wake up and see every morning that make me feel better about myself. I am working on another one where I will put up pics about things I am thankful for on one side and things I want in my life on the other.
There have been more than a few cases where “terminally ill” patients with no hope from modern or alternative medicine have cured themselves by the power of their own mind. Combining visualization, affirmations, a positive and light-hearted environment, and a healthy diet can make your life a lot easier. There is a man named
Dr. O. Carl Simonton who is an internationally acclaimed oncologist. Dr. Simonton developed a model of emotional support for the treatment of cancer patients. His approach introduced the concept that one’s state of mind could influence their ability to survive cancer. This was the first emotional intervention used in the treatment of cancer and it was approved by the surgeon General’s Office in 1973. He also conducted a pilot study from 1974 to 1981 which demonstrated an increase in survival time and improvement in quality of life.
Of course there are more factors involved that affect how you experience life like your diet, your lifestyle, rest etc. For example when you have lots of toxins in your body it cannot only cause you to be excessively tired and to possibly be in a bad mood but it creates ailments. All of those things can slow you down when you are trying to move forward in life but I will get into those things in future posts.

Vision Board Ingredients:

• A calm relaxed body and environment- Before you start to make your board find a quiet and comfy place. Close your eyes and set the intent for what you are about to start. With openness ask yourself what it is you want. Maybe images will come into your head or ideas. Whatever comes to you just be one with those images or thoughts for a few moments.
• Put on soft music and begin your board. Some people finish in one night and some people finish in one year. The great thing about the board is that it can change or stay the same…it’s whatever you want it to be.

Have a great weekend!

I love this concept! I was planning on making my bedroom door my affirmative visualization area….. The mind is so powerful it blows me away. And I too am on that rocky road towards spiritual enlightenment. I may not be where I want to be but its all a growing process and I’ll make it.

Thanks for the great ideas. I’ll definitely put them to use. :-)

I love the visualization board! I’ve heard of it, but never tried to do one. After seeing yours, Ally, I can see how this would really help. I HAVE to make one. It can be my own little ongoing arts & crafts project with God! LOL!

    Shari,
I know yours is gonna be too cute because I have seen your hand crafted greeting cards before. I might need you to design my next vision board so it can be stylish too LOL.
    Thanks for reading ;)

I have a long visual board on my wall in my room filled with cut outs of everything–Barak Obama newspapre cover, shoes and clothes I want from magazines, inspiring quotes, a postcard from my friend Tommy in Scottland (miss u babe)–just things that make me happy, moments I savor and memories I never want to forget.

Ally this is an AWESOME idea and my must-do activity for myself for my next Must-do Mondays!!! I too strongly believe in the power of visualization. I wrote an article on it a couple of years ago for the work/life balance employee newsletter I run at work. I just bought the book, Permission to Dream Journal created by Lisa Hammond, last week which includes pockets for various areas of your life to put pictures of that which you visualize to become your reality someday. However, you take it a step further with the suggesstion of a dream board (brilliant!) Seeing your dreams everyday, multiple times a day can be very empowering, so I will definitely be doing that this Monday. Once again you brought it! Thanks Ally.
