She is Uplifting
Hey Fam,
So last week I was invited to a Nicole Miller event for Indego Africa that took place at her New York Soho Boutique. I decided to attend to find out what it was all about and plus I wanted to meet Nicole.
Nicole launched an exclusive collection of multi-colored textile bangles and woven bracelets that were created in partnership with Indego Africa’s artisan cooperatives Cocoki and Covanya. Fifteen percent of the event’s proceeds were donated to Indego Africa to help support training for Rwandan women in long-term skills like literacy, business, financial management, and computers.
Guests shopped the exclusive bracelet collection and they sold out within the first hour. Yummy wine was served throughout the evening, thanks to The Naked Grape and there was a live performance by the talented Cape Verdean singer, Fantcha Mendes.
Nicole is looking to continue partnering with Indego Africa with subsequent bracelet launch parties at her Chicago Boutique on December 9th and Los Angeles Boutique on December 15th.

About Indego Africa
Indego Africa is an innovative 501(c)(3) nonprofit social enterprise, currently the subject of a Harvard Business School case study, that partners with hundreds of women artisans in Rwanda on a fair trade basis to drive forward a market-driven, long-term solution to poverty in Africa. The Indego Africa social enterprise business model is simple yet ground-breaking: partner with co-ops of women artisans in Rwanda; sell the co-ops’ contemporary accessories and home décor products online and at 40+ high-end retailers in the U.S.; and return 100% of its profits to the co-ops for Indego Africa’s award-winning training programs in business, literacy, and computers - all taught by Rwanda’s top university students. ??By forging a strategy based on transparency, long-term partnerships, and measuring social impact, Indego Africa, which was recently honored with an award for “Most Impact in a Partner Community” by the Fair Trade Federation, re-defines an outdated handicraft model of economic development and maps out a replicable blueprint for unleashing the power of women entrepreneurs in Africa.
