She is Inspiring

Hey Fam,

So my fab entrepreneur friend Latoya Gordon (who I’ve featured on she-blogs before) is having her 2nd annual Trunk show on December 4th, which was soooo amazing last year by the way. I was a vendor at her event last year and I have to be honest it was hard for me to stay at my own table…I wanted to shop, mingle, and dance (they were playing MJ) lol. She really is a great person inside and out and I love supporting her. The flyer is below, try to make it if you can :)

She-blogs: So how does it feel to be having your second annual trunk show soon?
Its definitely Exciting, but I’m still nervous of course.

She-blogs: I was a vendor last year and thought the turn out was amazing. What can attendees look forward to this year?
This year is going to be a battle of the talent and creative eye!  Everyone has such an amazing and creative aesthetic to their collection and this year is definitely not an event to miss. ;)

She-blogs: What steps do you usually take to plan an event of this magnitude and how far in advance do you start?
Well I usually start planning about 3 months in advance. Its really a lot of work but the outcome makes it all worth it.

She-blogs: Why did you decide to extend your brand from an online boutique to also doing trunk shows?
My on line boutique was a place for people to shop for fresh new looks from talented emerging designers.  My trunk shows offer the same thing but on a more personal scale.  It’s putting the fun in shopping! It allows designers to interact one on one with new clientele and talk to them about their collection.  It allows shoppers to interact with designers and learn about there collections.  I wanted to put so many different talents in one room and watch the magic unfold.  (sounds silly but Its magic to me.  LOL).  Its a fun setting. And It’s a place that’s truly like non other.

She-blogs: What makes your brand/show different from the rest?
I want my guest to immediately know that they are there to have a good time and from the moment they walk through the door it is made clear.  There is no charge to attend and gift bags are all complimentary along with the bar, barber service, facials and manicures.  You can’t get that anywhere else.  I also offer an atmosphere where people feel comfortable to explore and mingle. Trust me when I say they don’t want to leave even after the DJ stops playing the music. (Laughs)

She-blogs: What advice and beginner steps can you offer someone that wants to follow a similar path?
First find your niche.  And ask yourself why this and what are you going to do different then the rest or what hasn’t been done before? I’ve been to many and nothing and I mean nothing is anywhere like/similar to the “The Ultimate Trunk Show’.”

She-blogs: What business or life lessons have you learned from being an entrepreneur so far?
Stay true to myself.  That’s all that matters at the end of the day.
