Born and raised in Washington D.C., my interest in jewelry design began at the young age of eight when I began to make colorful clay jewelry. Not only would I have my mother sell my creations at work, but I would also set up a table right outside of my grandmother’s house with lemonade on the weekends. I was a true entrepreneur at heart and continued to make jewelry as a hobby throughout high school…even into my early college years. In 2001, I attended Temple University and majored in broadcast journalism and became the founder and editor-in-chief of “She Mag”, a magazine focused on uplifting and uniting young women.
After graduating, I decided it was time to make a career out of something I adored. I moved to New York City where I became a writer for Hype Hair Magazine, Angela Simmons “Rundown Mag”, Soul Food magazine, and also started designing my signature jewelry line. In late 2007 with over 100 published articles I got the amazing opportunity to be a featured “fashion writer” on an episode of MTV’s hit show “Runs House”. In early September I was a necklace sponsor for the Celebrity Gift Bags for the 2008 Fashion Rocks event in NYC. In late 2011 I launched Creative Genius Branding Agency with a great friend of mine.
