Introduction and background
1 ) 1 Preliminaries
Mobile technology has spread swiftly throughout the world faster than some other communication technology, and is at this point widely used all over the place. The basic notion of mobile phones started out in 1947 when experts started expanding car phones, but it has not been until around 1982 that mobile phones, as we know them, had been first used. The Brief Message Services (SMS) was created within the cellular phone industry inside the early 1990's but it did not become popular until about 98 (Crystal 2001).

SMS, as identified within the GSM digital cellular phone standard, is actually a service which will enables people to send short text messages in one mobile phone to another, or to a mobile phone via the Internet (Hard af Segerstad 2002: 187). Conversation through TEXT MESSAGE service is one method of communication referred to as pc mediated interaction (CMC). CMC is split up into two types: initial, the synchronous CMC, whereby the conversation occurs " in genuine time” (Crystal 2001: 11), such as Real-time Chat and Internet Relay Chat (IRC). The second type is asynchronous CMC, where communication arises " in postponed time” (Crystal 2001: 11) such as SMS and e-mails. This latter type does not require the members to be online and available at the same time frame or place in order to acquire and send messages (Hard af Segerstad 2002; Souverain et al. 2005; Dec 2005; Goggin 2004).
The mobile did not immediately become " a tool for the masses”, and it was certainly not widely spread in Test until the end of 1990's. Within a course of ten years, from 1991 to 2003, the cellular telephony features moved via being the technology for the privileged handful of to essentially a mainstream technology (Castelles et approach. 2006).
1 ) 2 Overview of related literature
The breakthrough of CMC has enthusiastic a real dichotomy among experts as whether to consider CMC like a written or perhaps spoken kind of language. When Baron (2000: 248) offers a metaphor to CMC because " an emerging vocabulary centaur, portion speech, component writing”, Ravenscroft (2001) shows that CMC much more than just a hybrid of speech and publishing. He takes on that even though CMC shows properties of both mediums, it holds features that none one of these means have. Crystal suggests that it should be seen as a fresh species of communication and this individual calls that a " third medium”.
