The newspaper investigates the phenomenon expertise management within an organisational framework with the seek to improve comprehension of its inherent nature and characteristics. The study is based on the assumption that better comprehension of knowledge supervision and the actual needs of actors and organisations must design meaningful Information Technology (IT)-based systems to help them. By simply drawing via a case study of a school restructure process, where modify highlighted various, normally invisible, knowledge administration issues, the paper presents a sensemaking model of know-how management and demonstrates just how it may lead to our understanding of knowledge in organisations. The paper as well tests the model like a conceptual tool to identify exclusive features of know-how at several levels (individual, interpersonal, organisational and cultural) and related knowledge creation and posting processes, which will provide a basis for examining required THAT support.
The right way to manage knowledge, knowledge function and understanding workers, in order to achieve competitive advantage have become acutely essential questions for a lot of organisations, not only for so called knowledge-intensive companies. Companies are purchasing various understanding management initiatives with emergency, yet with dubious results (Storey and Barnett, 2150; Schultze and Boland, 2000). It is not unexpected that concerns in know-how management include caught the interest of research workers and proliferated in a lot of fields, including organisational studies, management, and information systems (IS) (see eg. Choo, 1998; Alavi and Leidner, 2001), even though often lacking mutual acknowledgement.
