Myth in the Movies

He tells Poseidon that if the sl? is not really returned by summer solstice, that he can wage war against him. Percy Jackson is on a quest to save his mother by Hades whom holds her hostage pending the delivery of the sl? to him. He wishes the bolt so that he might rule instead of Zeus. Percy's quest is incredibly similar to the mission of a mythological hero known as Perseus, boy of Zeus and Danae.
Just as in the Perseus myth, Percy gets help from others with just a few differences. Rather than Hermes, it is Hermes' boy Luke who also gives Percy a pair of tennis shoes with wings he had stolen from his father. In the actual myth they are new sandals, not tennis shoes. Also, Athena, Zeus' sibling is the one that offers Perseus a protect and a sickle, in contrast to Percy getting the shield via Luke and the sickle coming from his Latina teacher called Mr. Brunner. This teacher (who afterwards turns out to be a centaur called Chiron), provides Percy taken up a camp for demigods for security after seeing Percy being attacked by a creature known as fury. Luke gives Percy a map to access Persephone's 3 pearls that she has concealed for the lovers who come and visit her....
