Margaret Laurence's " The Loons”, is actually a story regarding an American indian girl whom tries to defeat obstacles in her existence and discover a place of that belong, but in the final, dies while very young. She gets older in an environment where she is not happy, and despite her efforts to leave, ultimately ends up back in her hometown, that leads to her fatality. The theme of this story is the fact everyone is a product or service of their environment, which is illustrated by Vanessa and Piquette's lives and the loons within the lake.
Vanessa MacLeod was raised with a supportive family in a positive environment. The lady had a rich family who had been interested in her happiness, her behavior and exactly how she dressed up. Her parents cared for her and allowed her to complete amusing points as a child, including traveling to their cabin throughout the summers. Vanessa was able to become a happy youngster and develop social abilities at school to make friends. She also had a strong romantic relationship with her mother and father. The moment Vanessa details her come back home because, " I spent the first few days My spouse and i talking non-stop with my own mother, even as we exchanged all of the news that somehow hadn't found its way into letters” (p. 255), you cannot only see that Vanessa was happy to go to her residence and her mother by spending time jointly, but that they can kept connected and shared details about each other's lives through albhabets while Vanessa was away at college. Vanessa's great environment led her to school, to be happy and locate her place of belonging, in contrast to Piquette.
Piquette Tonnerre grew up in a family without care and no one to check for her. She was not happy in Manawaka. Her mom left when ever she was a child and her dad made her do all of the cooking and work at home. This led to her being a bitter and unhappy person. She hardly ever had a break or a real opportunity to become a child.
